so obviously it’s been a few weeks but i’ve been busy1.
some things i’ve enjoyed this week:
Please Please Please by Sabrina Carpenter. pop has been pretty boring the last few years imo but Sabrina and Chappell Roan and Chappell Roan again are really bringing it back in the right way.
Hawthorne and Horowitz. a british detective series where the author writes himself into the book, writing about a ‘'real life” detective in a true crime style but with cozy british murder mysteries. very enjoyable!
the Scottish woman i met at the pool yesterday. she’s in town visiting her son and she said she’s been walking all over the neighborhood. when i mentioned the heat she said she just stopped in places along the way and listed off a bunch of places i’ve never heard of in my own neighborhood. fun idea for an afternoon maybe
Lemme Say This. Hunter Harris’ new gossip podcast for haters. need i say more
glen powell interview on therapuss. happy to meet brisket (so i can keep an eye out for him on these streets)
anxiety ✨ i’ve been doing EMDR for a few months now and the battle between it and anxiety is still raging daily. am i going to be fired? do my coworkers hate me? do my dogs hate me? (is that why they haven’t caught the mouse in my house??) is everyone doing better things than me? is this newsletter too boring? am i not funny anymore? will i ever be funny again? i mean, what an empty and boring place my mind would be without anxiety
the pool: another great place for anxiety (can everyone see my cooch when i get out of the pool??) but also a relaxing one for reading and getting tan. i didn’t really go last year so making up for lost time
ipf worlds. 5 days of the strongest powerlifters in the world, some great battles down to the last deadlift. if you’d have asked me a few years ago if i could watch the same 3 lifts over and over again for hours at a time for days in a row, i’d laugh in your face. how the turned tables
Sasquatch erotica: a certain coach i know mentioned he knew someone that made a living off of this. i can’t help but be intrigued. to read it, you ask? sure. but to write it? absolutely. excited to be powered by velveeta and sasquatch erotic (TM)
Journal of a Solitude by May Sarton: I haven’t read this in awhile but it was recently mentioned in another newsletter and it’s one of my faves. going to reread it this week bc it’s always nice to circle back to a fellow hot tempered introvert
things i haven’t enjoyed:
the threat of TX power outages looms large as usual but i’m really glad we can keep fueling AI servers instead. i’d hate to insist on basic necessities like air conditioning when AI is adding so much to our lives
women “discovering” they have curly or wavy hair bc of tiktok. i promise you you would know if your hair was curly, gals.
cooking and cleaning. i am in a slump, like a little rat. or mouse, i should say since he’s taken over responsibilities.
my phone. pls put us both out of our misery.
struggling with executive dysfunction
